Before voting, plan to provide your Wisconsin drivers license or identification number when you vote if you are not registered. RECYCLING/SOLID WASTE PROGRAM: Residents are reminded that recycling of materials and solid waste for disposal in town bags are required in the Town of Stiles. As part of the program, all parcels capable of generating recyclables or solid waste in the town are assessed a $30 special assessment to assist in offsetting the costs of the program. This cost is listed as “other” on your bill. The owner of each parcel assessed will receive 52 blue bags per year marked “STILES”. These bags can be picked up anytime during the year from January 1-December 31 at the recycling center during regular hours. Additional bags can be purchased in rolls of 25 bags per roll. OUTDOOR BURNING: Burning permits are required in the Town of Stiles when the ground is not completely snow covered in the months of January, February, March, April and May. Burning permits are free and are required for all outdoor burning of leaves, brush, grass, clean wood, and personal papers. A burning permit is required for a barrel or outdoor incinerator. You can obtain a permit by calling Melissa at (920) 834-5756 or Donna at (920) 846-2026. It is highly recommended that you also notify the Oconto Co Sheriffs Department at (920) 834-6900 prior to any outdoor burning. If the fire department responds as a result of your burning and you do not have a permit, or if you did not notify the sheriffs department prior, you could be subject to any costs incurred and possible forfeiture imposed.
